\"Artist's The Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/strong><\/a> fell for the third straight day, dropping 0.3% Thursday. The tech-heavy NASDAQ Composite<\/strong><\/a> and benchmark S&P 500<\/a><\/strong> both held fairly steady, compared with closing down the day previous.<\/p>\n

The 10-year Treasury yield<\/strong><\/a>, benchmark for mortgage rates, corporate bond rates, and interest rates on various loans, climbed to 5.20% late-afternoon, more than 8 basis points higher than the previous day’s close, and its new highest level since 2007.<\/p>\n\n

Oil prices<\/strong> climbed Thursday, still impacted, at least in part, by predictions or perceptions relating to events in the Persian Gulf and broader Middle East. U.S. benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude<\/strong><\/a> rose 3.2% to $95.10 late-afternoon and international benchmark Brent crude<\/strong> futures<\/a> climbed 4.1% to $107.30.<\/p>\n

The U.S. dollar<\/strong> index rose 0.2% to 101.27 against a selection of foreign currencies. Gold<\/strong> futures fell 0.2% lower to $4,310 per ounce.<\/p>\n
