Unnamed officials were cited as suggesting that U.S. and Middle East mediators were seeking a 45-day ceasefire that could turn into a permanent end to the war.
On Monday, April 6, 2026, the Dow closed up 0.4%; the tech-dominated NASDAQ finished 0.5% higher; and the S&P 500 was up 0.4%. Last week, the three snapped 5-week declines to all gain at least 3%. West Texas Intermediate crude futures had risen 1% to $112.75 per barrel by 4 p.m. ET. Brent crude futures were 0.7% higher at $109.77 per barrel.
